Although it has been around for quite some time, online faxing is still a bit of a novelty and has caused a great deal of confusion in some cases. When a non-tech savvy person hears terms such as email to fax and fax to email, they ask themselves, ‘which is which and how does it work?’
Fax to email and email to fax is almost the same thing, with fax to email a fax is delivered into your email inbox and with email to fax a fax is sent via your email. The latter is a bit more complicated and for that reason we will be taking a closer look at how to send a fax via email.
How to send a fax via email.
Before we begin, the very first thing you need to do is to open an online faxing account with a service provider such as Faxfx. Once you have done this you will receive your own designated fax number and you will be ready to begin.
Step 1
Open your email and create a new blank message.
Step 2
Enter the fax recipients fax number into the “To” field of the email for example [email protected].
Step 3
Choose a descriptive subject for you fax, this makes for easy reference. Enter your chosen subject into you subject tab.
Step 4
To add a cover sheet to your fax, simply add text into the body section of the email. If there is no content in the body section of the email the fax will be sent without a cover sheet.
Step 5
You may attach the document you wish to send using the attachment function of your email software.
Step 6
Once the above steps have been completed, you can press the send button and the fax will be sent to the specified recipient. The recipient will receive the message in the form of a fax.
